In breaking news, I spotted a Creative type at work tapping away at laptop that was not made by Apple. And it was running Windows. I suspect it was the tasteful shade of orangey pink that swung it.

never thought I’d write this, but I think I disagree with Jon Steel
Watching the videos from JWT’s ‘Planning Begins at 40’ event, I was particularly struck by Jon Steel’s speech – and crucially his delivery – which made it clear that he fears that Planning has lost its place, is suffering from an erosion of rigour and unless we spend all our time ‘wading through Nielsen reports … Continue reading never thought I’d write this, but I think I disagree with Jon Steel
fags and booze
I’ve been wondering – when was the last time anyone launched a new tobacco brand? Since the government got all hardcore on marketing fags, (from the point of view of a non smoker) it looks like its become very difficult for to do any kind of brand based activity in this sector. So if the … Continue reading fags and booze
End of an agency
Those of you in the UK who work outside London might have seen the ad below earlier this month in The Drum – it was Poulters’ last ever ad. I’ve blogged before about how sad it was to see one of the long standing Northern heavyweight agencies fall, but the majority of copy here (which … Continue reading End of an agency
Age does not define them but their army of helpers does
Yesterday’s Sunday Times carried an article ‘in praise of older women’ by India Knight (whose columns I normally lap up) suggesting that the essence of modern, empowering womanhood is the possibility that we, at 62, could look like Helen Mirren in a bikini. soggy sarnie design
I’ve been charging up and down the M1 a lot recently and have therefore been sampling the delights of Moto’s service station network. They’re in the process of rebranding their cafeteria offering to EDC – The Eat and Drink Co. Looks great, huh? Well, it looks great in isolation and probably looked fab presented on … Continue reading soggy sarnie design
birthday card wisdom
It was my birthday party yesterday. In one of those weird party moments, all the guys ended up in the garden playing ultra-competitive croquet according to the rules of golf. I think I loved this birthday card the most:
