Due to various illness/holiday type-absences, as last-client-contact-standing I’ve been a lot more involved in the day-to-day running of one of my clients than I would normally.
Its been a real eye-opener. Its easy to forget just how many hurdles a piece of work has to go through between concept and execution. And how many opportunities there are for the big idea, core thought or resonance with the target audience to get lost along the way.
So big respect to the legions of account execs, managers and directors, who brief in the artwork, cost the budgets, deal with client 180-last-minute-change-of-minds and (mostly) manage to uphold the integrity of the campaign.
Note to self: must continue new policy of feigned incompetence in order to avoid further requests to babysit client accounts, however temporarily…
